How to find a cool coffee table book
What are the best coffee table books that are now available for sale? If you have asked yourself the same question, we have decided to give you a hand with selecting the right products. While some people might be interested in putting together a neat coffee table book layout design, other might want to impress their friends with titles they have actually read and can recommend.
The simplest coffee table books definition we could come up with is a large and expensive publication that can be read at your leisure. Of course, this definition differs largely from one person to the next, as some might be more interested in checking out graphic novels whereas others would rather prefer browsing through several art and architecture collections.
It goes without saying that if you fail to be impressed with books that are 1200-pages long or even longer, you could just as well decorate your coffee table with some of your favorite magazines. One thing’s for sure. The broad variety of alternatives that you might come across could leave you feeling baffled as to which book is the right one for you.
How we found the coolest coffee table books
We will share with you some of the tips that we have utilized to try to find cool coffee table books for you to consider. Just as well as anyone, we know that there couldn’t be a greater pleasure other than that coming from browsing through a nicely designed book while sipping from a coffee mug.
What is the size of your coffee table?
In most cases, you will come to realize that most people shopping for books to put on display aren’t interested in purchasing just one. The annoying thing about the typical book that can be showcased on a coffee table is that it is anything but affordable. Traditionally, your guests or anyone sitting down and enjoying a nice cup of joe in your home will appreciate a so-called ‘read’ that’s packed with photos.
Under the vast majority of such circumstances, you will have to display several books so that the guest has something to choose from.
While someone who enjoys having a delicious glass of wine when getting back home after a long and tedious day at work could be interested in something like The Wine Bible by Karen MacNeil, somebody else would much rather look at pictures of minimalist interiors or find out as much as they can about 1001 movies to see before they die.
The need to put at least five books on display comes from this diversity of tastes and personal preferences. However, with a small sized table, you couldn’t possibly do this because it would end up looking like it is entirely covered in books. With a larger one, on the other hand, you might even have the freedom to display as many as ten photo guides and other highly illustrated publications.
Does the book have to appeal to everyone or just yourself?
Readers vary largely from one person to the next. While some members of our team are great fans of the Game of Thrones book and TV series, some of our colleagues simply can’t stand it. Sometimes, it is not even a matter of preferences. Some argue that the series is far too long and detailed for them to enjoy it truly.
If you are a Star Trek fan, but only one of your buddies shares your passion, it wouldn’t be a great idea to solely display such collections. That is unless you plan on inviting only the individuals who are Trekkies like yourself. Of course, part of having a social life means that you share your spare time with individuals who have the same interests as you, but that doesn’t mean that you have to create any restrictions.
A useful piece of advice would be to choose several collections that anyone could be interested in. Books like 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die by Ian Haydn Smith and Steven Jay Schneider could appeal to most of your acquaintances and family members because it’s improbable that someone these days dislikes going to the movies or watching TV. It is one of the most common forms of entertainment.
Are the books supposed to tackle a particular topic?
Some publications could be made for some purpose or the other, whereas some others might just be your favorite books of all time. If you are a true bookworm, it is very likely that you will feel the need to share some of your passion with a number of of your friends who might not even be into books in general.
If you’re all-time favorite book is Nineteen Eighty Four by George Orwell, perhaps it isn’t a good idea to display it or recommend it fervently. Our team loved it, but don’t get the wrong idea. Perhaps a better choice would be Animal Farm by the same author. You don’t want to put off non-readers with publications that contain no photos and are tomes. Anything by Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, Nietzsche, Goethe, and any other writer who might be less ‘user-friendly’ should be a no-go if your guests aren’t into dark literature.
In the end, something that might at least pique the interest of most people could be the New Concise World Atlas by the Oxford University Press. Cooking for Geeks by Jeff Potter could also be a good option, especially if both you and your guests are tech-savvy and want to take advantage of technology in order to prepare delicious meals.
Wine lovers might enjoy The Oxford Companion to Wine while good old beer lovers could like browsing through The Oxford Companion to Beer. in the end, one has to choose wisely as most of the hardcover editions of these titles can cost a pretty penny. Nonetheless, this does not mean that you have to put together your coffee table book collection in the same month. You can always buy them using separate paychecks.
